Talk about stuff that has nothing to do with Ghostbusters!

Looks damn good.

Obviously a big fan, we all wouldn’t be on this board right now if it werent for this show. ( other avenues like National Lampoon and Second City were part of the formative years, of course. But SNL was what ignited the popularity )

mods can find another spot for this thread. But as aforementioned its Ghostbusters-adjacent. So its a gray area, really.

I also like the idea that Jasons making a new career with the Ghostbusters legacy..literally. I wonder if hell make a Second City movie after this.

I can wait for video. I'd be more interested in seeing something like this if they showed the making of Wayne's World or Cone Heads. I'd really like to know if this thang will have Popcorn buckets coming out. I can picture a Dan Aykroyd head where is hair is the lid. Lol.

I’m going to say this as someone who LOVED Afterlife but I think it’s kinda interesting to see what Reitman’s career has morphed into. I know Ivan technically wasn’t a part of SNL but it’s like Jason is making movies that lionize and mythologize the guys & gals his dad worked with.

Problem for this movie is it looks derivative of other things. It looks like an episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Steip. (But holy shit that casting. It’s scary good. The kid who plays Lorne Michaels is a bit young but he NAILED his mannerisms, eyes and speech pattern. The Chevy Chase bit at the end is also eerily good).

The casting looks spot on but this just looks like so many other “biopics”. This looks like an Aaron Sorkin movie without Aaron Sorkin. A mixture of his Steve Jobs movie and the aforementioned Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

I have a feeling they are going to have to fudge some timelines on this. I think I see glimpses of skits that weren’t in that first episode. Because that’s the problem about the first episodes of SNL. They weren’t very funny.

While the casting looks great here it seems too derivative of other things.

I hope the movie becomes a big hit and helps the franchise out by giving Jason some clout.

Its going to be Birdman with an SNL theme. Literally, news on the street it will be a “one take” style.

But honestly..as a fan of Birdman, Jason and Gils work, and classic SNL. That makes me kinda pumped.

And yeah, Ivan might not have worked “directly” with SNL. But he was a big voice during the time period leading up to that point (having direct/produced Second City shows as well as the National Lampoon Hours)
