A Sphinx seeks out the smartest people in the city, asking a riddle that so far, no ones been able to answer. Hoewever, if you don't get the answer right, you pay a heavy price... Meanwhile, Egon is starting to feel his age almost going through sort of a mid-life crisis. Should he be out helping the EGB's or should he continue to stay at the firehall?
- Actually, the way the show turned out, this episode only makes sense here. Egon wistful for the old days after his friends have gone mainly. Also, it was somehow envisioned at the time "Sphinx" was written that Egon wouldn't leave the Firehouse much. Boy was THAT off-base! (The show was originally scheduled to air near the beginning of the series). - Shannon Muir
