The N-Filter is the circular tube at the bottom of the Pack, connected to the Cyclotron. It has a solid red line and a few seemingly white holes in the diameter. It also has a rub-down transfer on in front. It's usage is unknown though many believe the N stands for Nitrogen, which could be used to cool the Cyclotron.
Like the Ion Arm or the Raytheon Crank Knob, the N-Filter changes appearance between the Ghostbusters films. In the first Ghostbusters film, the N-Filter has various holes that seem to have a mesh covering the inside:
However, in Ghostbusters 2, this mesh seems to be taken off, thus, the holes are a solid white:
