William Leonard Clippard, Jr. founded Clippard Instrument Laboratory in 1941, (Inc., 1946). The initial product line consisted of electrical test equipment, magnetic windings, and radio frequency coils. The first miniature fluid power devices designed and built by Clippard were for use in the manufacture of this equipment. In the early 1950's, Clippard introduced Minimatic components as a new product line. The need for miniature pneumatics was widespread, and since no such products had been previously available, the Minimatic line was successful enough to become Clippard's primary product line. Until his retirement in 1977, Leonard Clippard continued to be a pioneer in miniature pneumatics.

Today, the company is managed by William L. Clippard, III, president and Robert L. Clippard, vice-president. The company's growth continues today, maintaining its position as the industry's most complete supplier of quality, miniature pneumatic components. Clippard innovation has led to many industry "firsts," such as the establishment of the 10-32 thread as a port. Products that Clippard first introduced to the industry include: fluidic amplifiers, unique plug-in air logic modules, and micro-based computer control air logic control systems. The complete Minimatic line includes over 3,400 standard products. Some of the many products offered include valves, cylinders, fittings, modular components, push buttons, stainless steel cylinders, electronic manifold cards, circuit analyzers, and pre-piped manifold subplates.

The Proton Pack features several parts made by Clippard Instrument Laboratory Inc. Most of these parts are still available unchanged since the early 80's they can be purchased via their online store, or the [/shop/ GB Fans Shop]!

Clippard Modular Valve R-701

Clippard R-701

The R-701 is made by the Clippard Minimatic corporation located in Cincinnati OH. It was one of the first found items for the [/equipment/plans/elite-proton-pack-plans/ Proton Pack], as it says right on its label what it is, and who makes it. The most amazing thing about this item is that it is still available from Clippard. The basic design and label has remained practically the same but the R-701 has gone through a few generations since the early 1980s producing a few subtle differences.

Clippard Minimatic: ""R-701 is a self-relieving, adjustable pressure regulator with multiple output ports. Pressure can be piped directly from ports 2,4,6 and 8. Eliminates need for additional fittings. Unused output ports should be plugged."

Clippard #11752-1 Hose Barb

Hose Barb

The Clippard #11752-1 barb is seen on the Proton Gun on the rear instrument bar and rear cylinder, attached together by a length of 1/4" OD green hose. The barb is 1/8" ID. They are also used in conjunction with the #15090-1 fitting below. The packs in Ghostbusters 2 used the 11752-3 to hold the blue wiring in place on the [/equipment/proton-pack/dale-resistors/ Dale] RH-50 Resistor resin replicas, however this is a negligible detail. Packs in GB1 and GB2 used a combination of 11752-1 and 11752-3 hose barbs the 11752 -3 is slightly shorter and the hex portion has a slightly smaller profile as well.

Clippard #15090-1 L-Fitting

15090-1 Fitting

Two of these Clippard #15090-1 fittings are found on the GB1 Proton Pack while three were used on the GB2 pack. They are used in conjunction with the #11752-1 hose barbs to form an Elbow fitting. Used on the [/equipment/proton-pack/part-names/HGA/ HGA], Beam Line and on the [/equipment/proton-pack/part-names/ion-arm/ Ion Arm] behind the aluminum cap for the GB2 packs.

Clippard #15002-2 L-Fitting

15002-2 L-Fitting

One of these Clippard #15002-2 fittings was used on the GB1 Proton Pack. It is used in conjunction with the #11752-1 hose barbs to form an Elbow Fitting. The fitting is screwed directly into the aluminum Ion Arm Cap on GB1 packs.
