I'm hopefully starting on a Throwing Chicken build shortly. (At least I've cleaned up the projects ahead of it on the to-do list).

Did you use the parallel port? I don't see it in the progress photos, and I'm assuming that's the only way to pass signal from the battery box light/switch back to the electronics in the main body. I have the hero kit, so obviously I'd like to have it able to be disassembled, but the cabling for those two elements poses a challenge.
