Egon first authorizes Boson Dart use in Ghostbusters the Video Game on the "Panic in Times Square" level. The Rookie, whose job it is to test experimental equipment, is the first Ghostbuster to use it. It is the first new weapon the Rookie receives in the game.
The Boson Dart is a concentrated ball of protons that can be guided down a proton stream. It is the alternate fire of the proton stream. It is highly destructive, blowing up buses in one blast. Due to its high energy level, more than three darts will overheat the Proton Pack, unless upgrades are purchased.
