Boson Dart

Egon first authorizes Boson Dart use in Ghostbusters the Video Game on the "Panic in Times Square" level. The Rookie, whose job it is to test experimental weaponry, is the first Ghostbuster to use it. It is the first new weapon the Rookie receives in the game. The Boson Dart is a concentrated ball of protons that can be guided down a proton stream. It is the alternate fire of the proton stream. It is highly destructive, blowing up buses in one blast. Due to its high energy level, more than three darts will overheat the Proton Pack, unless upgrades are purchased.
The Boson Dart is relatively effective on all ghosts, but it is deadliest (in a spiritual sense) on marshmallow based creatures and graveyard crawlers. Ray directs the Rookie to use the Boson Darts on the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, which is his weakness according to the PKE Meter. Each hit on Stay-Puft leaves visual scarring. There are two upgrades available for the Boson Dart, the Heat Reduction and the Damage Increase. Basically, the Heat Reduction increases the number of darts before the pack overheats and the Damage Increase makes the destructive radius of the explosion greater. In Ghostbusters the Video Game's online multiplayer, the Boson Dart is rarely seen or used. It can only be used when the Proton Accelerator pick-up is in effect. The Proton Pack will glow red and the normal proton stream will be more intense and vibrant than usual. The effect wears off in about 10 seconds.
