Stasis Beam

Egon first authorizes the use of the Stasis Beam in the "New York Public Library" level in Ghostbusters: The Video Game. It appears on the Proton Pack as several raised strips of lights on the top of the pack and on the sides. It appears as two rectangles of blue light on the body of the neutrona wand. The Stasis Beam is a blue-white stream of energy that forces ghosts to stay perfectly still for a few seconds. It works similarly to a freeze-ray, but has nothing to do with temperature. As a ghost is blasted, it appears to turn to stone. The Stasis Beam works on pretty much any ghosts or monsters, without any distinct effectiveness. But it can freeze some lower monsters and then allow them to be shattered with a Shock Blast. It doesn't work on the larger monsters, like golems or black slime monsters. The Stasis Beam has two upgrades: The Cost Decrease and the Stasis Accelerator. The Cost Decrease allows the Beam to be used for a longer time before it overheats. The Stasis Accelerator forces more energy out of the wand, making a more intense and thicker beam. It is possible, though difficult, to "Stasis Dunk" a ghost into a ghost trap. The ghost must be already knocked out, then frozen just above the trap for it to work. It is an Achievement/Trophy. In Online, the Stasis Beam is the alternate fire for the Shock Blast. It has 5 units of power. The Stasis Beam is used primarily to freeze lower monsters, and then to shatter them. It can be a specialization, levelling up in campaigns.
