Neil Casey

Neil Casey (born July 28, 1981, in Wilmington, Delaware) is an American actor and comedy writer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in drama from the University of Delaware, and subsequently pursued a career in both sketch comedy writing and screen acting.

In Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016), Casey played Rowan North, the film's primary antagonist. Rowan is a physicist with advanced degrees who works as a basement custodian at the Mercado Hotel in Manhattan, which he has identified as the intersection point of New York City's ley lines, making it the ideal location to place his Barrier Compromising Master Machine. His goal is to thin the barrier between the living world and the ghost dimension and unleash an army of ghosts on the city. Screenwriter Katie Dippold described Rowan as "a very smart genius type" who meets the Ghostbusters and does not want to do good; director Paul Feig called him "the ultimate loner, a regular New Yorker." Casey's casting as the villain named Rowan was first reported on July 7, 2015. He had previously worked with Feig on the science fiction comedy series Other Space (2015), which also featured several other cast members from the 2016 film. His delivery of Rowan's line about the ghosts being "mostly dudes" was an ad-lib that made it into the finished film.

Casey joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live for its 38th season in 2012 and received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2013. He received a second Emmy nomination the following year for his work on Inside Amy Schumer. As an actor, he appeared as a series regular on Other Space (2015) and Making History (2017), and later as a host and performer on the baking competition series Baking It (2021).
