Plot
As Trevor and Lucky navigate their rocky one-year "friendiversary," a ghost Kraken surfaces in New York Harbor and the rest of the crew contend with personal tensions and equipment trouble back at the Firehouse. Ray Stantz uses the moment to recount the disputed real-world history of Captain Kidd, including his Manhattan properties near Wall Street, his disputed status as a pirate versus a victim of political framing, and his execution in London in 1701. Sammy Velez alludes to his accidental summoning of Captain Kidd in the previous issue. The team mobilizes to confront the threat at Liberty Island as Kidd's spectral fleet converges on Manhattan.

Entities
Kraken Ghost: A massive spectral sea creature that attacks in New York Harbor. It is depicted on Cover A grabbing the Statue of Liberty. Gary delivers the line "Release the Kraken!" before the confrontation, a reference to the 2010 film Clash of the Titans.
Captain Kidd: The historical Scottish privateer executed for piracy on May 23, 1701, in London. After the first hanging attempt failed, his body was gibbeted over the River Thames as a warning to other pirates. Ray explores the real historical debate over whether Kidd was genuinely a pirate or was wrongly condemned. Historians have noted Kidd's main New York residence was at 119-21 Pearl Street, and he also held property at 56 Wall Street, 86-90 Pearl Street, 52-56 Water Street, and 25, 27, and 29 Pine Street. The fleet's approach to Liberty Island is tied to unverified historical speculation that Kidd buried treasure there, which was within sight of his Pearl Street home.
Kidd's Ghost Pirate Army: The spectral crew accompanying Captain Kidd's advance on Liberty Island.
Equipment
The team deploys the Proton Pack and Particle Thrower, Drone Trap, and standard Ghost Trap. Lucky is shown using the updated Proton Pack and Particle Thrower design introduced in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Trevor asks Lucky whether she remembers how to operate a Proton Pack, referencing her use of one against Gozer in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The Pistol Belt and standard Uniform are also worn. Callie and Gary's shared locker at the Firehouse, first seen in Frozen Empire, appears again.
Locations
The action centers on Liberty Island and its surrounding harbor, with Firehouse and Ray's Occult Books serving as base-of-operations scenes. Summerville is referenced in Lucky's memories.
