Rob Williams is a British comics writer, known outside Ghostbusters for titles including Cla$$war, Ordinary, and The Royals. He scripted one Ghostbusters comic book for IDW Publishing: the 2009 Christmas one-shot Past, Present and Future.
IDW Publishing Work
Williams wrote Past, Present and Future for IDW Publishing, released in December 2009. The book is a Scrooge/A Christmas Carol homage in which the Ghostbusters are hired by a ruthless New York millionaire to capture the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, who have haunted him for decades. It was the first entry in IDW's series of holiday-themed Ghostbusters one-shots.
The creative team for the issue was: pencils by Diego Jourdan, colors by Tom Smith/Scorpion Studios, letters by Neil Uyetake, and editing by Tom Waltz. Cover art was provided by Nick Runge (covers B and RI) and by Diego Jourdan.
Williams discussed the experience in The Complete SFX Guide to Ghostbusters (2014):
"It was genuinely a major thrill to write a Ghostbusters Christmas Special. It's one of my favourite movies and I figured a Christmas Ghostbusters story leant itself to the Scrooge tale, and the pitch was accepted by IDW. It was only when I was working on it that it was pointed out that a Real Ghostbusters cartoon had previously used the Scrooge tale as a template too. Who wouldn't enjoy writing dialogue for Peter Venkman, Ray and Egon? I received a kind note from Brian Lynch, the screenwriter of Hop and Puss In Boots, after it came out saying I 'had the voices DOWN'. But that's because the voices are so strong in the original movie."
