Story Overview
This issue opens the three-part adaptation by covering the first half of the Ghostbusters II film narrative. Unlike the subsequent two parts, Part 1 follows the film closely, with only minor differences in secondary characters and equipment. The story picks up with the Ghostbusters disbanded and professionally sidelined, then tracks their return to action through a courtroom battle, the discovery of mood-reactive slime beneath the city streets, and a first confrontation with the Scoleri Brothers.
The issue adapts twelve chapters of the film in sequence: the initial "Start" chapter establishing the Ghostbusters' post-dissolution circumstances; the "World of the Psychic" segment featuring Peter Venkman; Dr. Janosz Poha's introduction at the Manhattan Museum of Art; the "Ray's Occult Books" segment; the "Investigating Oscar" and "Late-Night Excavation" chapters; Vigo's commands to Janosz; the team's descent down the shaft on First Avenue; the "Great Blackout of 1989"; and the trial that culminates in the Scoleri Brothers being unleashed in the courtroom.
