Proton Pack

This is my first pack and went into it a bit clueless to be honest, I had planned to make a proton pack for a fancy dress party but had no idea there was such a community with help and support. I don't have access to a woodshop or any tools apart from basic home power tools. I also live in the UK and my budget wouldn't stretch to getting accurate parts shipped over from the USA so i decided to go for as accurate a pack as money would allow. After looking around loads of the photos on here i decided to make the majority of the parts out styrofoam that was covered in wood filler (polyfiller for us brits!) and then sanded smooth. It's a bastard to do but the result turns out nice and is a lot cheaper and faster to build than wood. The main downside is the strength of it, it wouldn't take a hard hit without damaging it so i'm a bit worried about taking it to the party now! (update: how very true, the ion arm broke!) I also know nothing about electronics but reeeealy wanted lights on it so i went for 2 seperate chaser circuit light kits from maplins (about £12 each with replacement LEDs). Overall i'm very chuffed how it turns out. It turned out far more expensive than first though but well worth it. Somebody wrote on this site that it's a privilege to own one of these and that nothing beats the satisfaction of making your own from scratch rather than buying one on ebay. I couldn't agree more. Still have some things to finish like the bumper and N-filter but it's good enough for the party! (many thanks to nickatron for his grips and JT94 for his cyclotron)
