Slimer

Here’s my Slimer costume, I made for Halloween 2009.
First thing I did was buy a plastic bowl , from the dollar store. Which was about 12 inches in diameter, 6 inches deep. I then plated the bowl with segments of one inch upholstery foam to give Slimer’s, general head shape. I used a hot glue gun, to glue the foam together and I used cans of dust off to cool the glue down. I then quickly drew the features of the face. I tucked and fold foam to make the lips, chin cheeks, and brows. I used foam balls for the eyes, temporarily. I then cut out segments of foam to make the body. I decided to give Slimer a set of moobs, assuming it’s a male. I figured if it had a big ass, it should have moobs, unlike the movie version. I did some more folding and tucking of foam to give him his fat rolls.
To give Slimer his slimy skin, I bought some cotton baton. It has to be 100% cotton, not polyester. Cotton works best. I used my hands to tear pieces of baton. I then separate the baton, like two ply toilet paper. I coated the baton in liquid latex, by brushing it on. Then placed it on slimmer like you would, papier-mâché. Smoothed it out using my hands..The cotton baton latex combo, strengthens and hides the seams of the piece.
To tint the latex green. I used acrylic paint, I just added until I got the color I liked. I let the latex to dry completely . Then I took some cotton balls, dipped it in the latex. Sculpt the cotton balls into wrinkles and warts. Let that dry. Then brushed on a few coats of the green latex to help give a sheen. I then tinted some liquid latex a darker green and highlighted the features and folds of Slimer.
To make the nose, I sculpted it out of clay, made a mold of it. Casted it with the green latex by brushing several coats . Hot glued it in place. Blended it in with baton and latex.
For the teeth I sculpted them out of Super Sculpy. Made the jaw out of wire news paper and duct tape. I then temporarily glued the teeth to the jaw. I used some sculpy to make the gums. I then painted the teeth and gums. Then applied a clear coat. I sewed the jaw in, using upholstery thread, I made some plastic stoppers to prevent the thread to rip in to Slimer. I covered the stoppers with some baton and latex.
For the eyes, I bought some yellow balls, cut them in half. Painted on the Iris. Insert them into the eye sockets. Took some more baton and latex to make some eyelids. Wired up some amber LED’s, to back lit the eyes.

For the arms. I made a pair of shoulder length gloves, out of green spandex. Coated the gloves in latex to match everythin.
Hopefully in the near future, I’ll make a You Tube video on how I made Slimer. So people can get a better understanding what I mean by tucking and folding of the upholstery foam.
