Here is my very first proton pack that I've been working on the last couple of weeks. I've been building the various parts out of balsa and basswood (reinforced on the inside for better duability). I used pvc and wood dowels for the cylinders, and a few washers here and there.
I have no tools, so unfortunately I had to cut everything by hand with an exacto knife and whittle the slanted pieces (ppd, booster cylinder). It was a chore, but it came out looking okay! I did buy my motherboard on eBay from multimediamayhem.
I bought several small parts such as the hoses, resistors from the GBprops store. Nothing is bolted down here, just placed on the motherboard for reference, so the parts may look slightly off. The spacer plates are obviously unpainted and unglued at this time and the spacer itself is unfinished (I need to add the top part with the hose intake and clippard mounting plate.
I painted everything with 3 coats of flat black and one coat of hammered semi glossy black to give it a metallic-ish look (and the hammered look also helps to hide some imperfections!). I'll definitely post more as I finish this pack.
The two pictures at the bottom are of my completed pack. I bought a bumper, gun knobs, and grips from cwalker here on the boards. I made the ion knob out of regular aluminum washers. I have added the correct wires, resistors, stickers, and attached the motherboard to the alice pack. I have also finished the gun and added the correct parts. I don't have any of the switches... that and adding the lights are my next project.
I added a picture of my uniform (not 100% complete and without the finished proton pack). The patches are just taped on in that picture. I'm having the no ghost patch sewn on today and getting some velcro for my Venkman patch and Benjamin patch (my last name) so I can switch them out as needed.
