Proton Pack

Exact replica of the iconic props from the 1984 comedy. Built with many of the same components and details as the original. Part scratch built, part assembled, this is a replica of the "hero" - or highest grade - filming prop, which means it features full working electronics, genuine metal fittings (as opposed to resin or rubber castings on the lower grade, or "stunt" packs). The overal wieght of the piece is around 20lbs which is actually less than the originals. The weathering and detailing was all applied in various layers and the paintjob alone represents many weeks of fine-tuning and reworking! As a produciton designer, the art direction in Ghostbusters has always fascinated me, and these props have always been one of my favourite pieces of mechanical design. The strong sense design flow is matched by the tactile, rough and ready nature of the prop. While I'm pleased with the overall piece, there are things I'd change. Maybe I'll build another one soon. Sold.
