Proton Pack

I constructed the proton pack and trap when I was approximately 13 yrs old...in 1988. It was made from whatever parts I could find around the house, including SEGA game paddles, cardboard, particle board, toy train set pieces, etc. It had working lights and power switches, almost identical to the film props, and was powered by an internal 12volt lantern battery, with additional 9volt connectors that were easily accessible and well hidden. I also constructed a containment unit in my garage during summer vacation with working parts that actually opened and took in the trap I had made earlier. Unfortunately, it was dismantled by my father who needed his space back before I could take any pictures of it. The pictures are video stills from footage I shot as a kid on my camcorder. The images of the proton stream emitting from the gun are stills from a short video clip I made of myself using the prop recently...the proton stream was created by me, hand painting it frame-by-frame using COMMOTION. The clip was a mere 5 seconds long and took approximatly 7 hours to complete. That last still was from an earlier test I had done, experimenting more with the animation than with the look of the stream.
