Proton Pack

Well, first off, most all of the parts were made myself. I didn't buy anything from anyone from the GB board. I have a friend who works at a metal shop who gave me the T1 alum and sheet brass. He cut them to specs and I did the rest. He also made the mount and the bumper. I ended up bending that by hand over a 2" PVC pipe very slowly until it fit my spacer and cyclotron. I created a few sculpts and molded them such as the booster frame and crank handle. I did a LOT of molding and casting of the original parts that I bought locally. What I did with the gun bodies was take the pieces and used a lot of JB Weld to hold them together. Then I just trimmed them down to what I liked with the Dremmel. I finally broke down and bought a metal hole saw at a plumb shop to get those large holes in there. As for the little trigger box on the left; it's all about the tools! My buddy cut and shaped the metal. I simply JB Welded the four pieces together. To be honest, I got some extra sheet brass at Pearl Arts and Crafts and the .030 can be cut with regular scissors. I used that on both guns and they are very sturdy. The T1 alum is bit more stiff and I couldn't say where to buy it. As for the twisting action for the tube, it took a little planning and a prototype that I still have. What I did was cut a 3" section of 1" PVC and inserted a 1.5 section of a metal closet rod for hanging clothes. Then I drilled two holes thru horizontally in the back of both pipes and used two sheet metal screws to permanently secure it. Now what I had was a PVC tube with a metal tube sticking out the front about a half inch. Then, I drilled two more holes in the metal rod vertically. One on top and another on the bottom. At this point, I put it in the gun body and JB Welded the crap out of it. After it was cured, it was a totally immobile adapter for the barrel. Now all I did was cut the appropriate length of PVC for the barrel, sand it level enough so it sits flush with the adapter, and cut two grooves on the top and bottom. Now comes the technical part. You go to the grocery store, or drug store, or HD and buy a toilet paper holder. It's hard to explain exactly what to do because I did a lot hit and miss so check the photo. The holder is placed about where it should be in the PVC. You can also kinda see the white closet rod thru the top groove on the barrel. The electronics I had another friend harness for me. The pack and gun have three circuits and one 9-volt. I am planning on splitting my profits with them for all they have done.
