Angel shares the writing credit on "Darkness at Noon, Part 1" and "Darkness at Noon, Part 2," the two-part episode that opens the 1997 series. Both parts are credited to Billy Brown, Dan Angel, and Dean Stefan. Part 1 first aired on September 1, 1997.
The story reintroduces Egon Spengler as a college professor teaching paranormal studies in New York and assembles the new team, Kylie Griffin, Garrett Miller, Eduardo Rivera, and Roland Jackson, out of the only students in his class when the disease-spreading entity Achira is released during subway excavation.
