Claudia Nell McCoy is a Brooklyn-born actress and writer who grew up as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) in a household where her mother, father, and stepfather were all deaf. She studied Theatre at SUNY Potsdam and, in 2017, won an AUDELCO Award for Best Ensemble for her work in Daughters of the Mock with the Negro Ensemble Company.
Her screen credits include a recurring role as Coach Sabrina in the CBS drama East New York, as well as appearances in FBI, Law and Order, and the Showtime series Let the Right One In, which marked her television debut. She has worked in film and television since 2013.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024), McCoy appeared as Woman Running Away (Beach), a beachgoer at Coney Island who flees when Garraka's Death Chill sweeps in from the water. In the scene, what begins as a sunny heatwave instantly shifts to darkness and winter: a large black storm cloud races in from the ocean, icicles erupt through the water and then through the sand, and the Wonder Wheel is left mid-rotation as everyone panics and runs. The casting of this role followed an unusually eventful audition process: after receiving the audition, McCoy had second thoughts about the role and then was bitten by a Rottweiler, causing her not to submit a tape. A few days later, her manager reported the producers were still interested in seeing something from her, and she eventually sent in a tape and booked the part.
