George P. Wilbur

1 min read

George Peter Wilbur (March 6, 1941, February 1, 2023) was an American actor and professional stuntman whose career in Hollywood spanned more than four decades and included work on well over a hundred film and television productions. He began with stand-in work for John Wayne in 1966 and went on to build a broad stunt career on major franchises including Planet of the Apes, Die Hard, and Magnum P.I. He was a member of the Hollywood Stuntmen's Hall of Fame.

Wilbur is best remembered as the actor beneath the mask of Michael Myers in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), making him the first performer to portray the character more than once in the Halloween series. Standing 6 feet 2.5 inches, his size and deliberate physicality gave Myers a particularly menacing quality that drew praise from fans of the franchise.

In Ghostbusters II (1989) Wilbur appeared on screen as the Bailiff during the courtroom trial of the Ghostbusters, credited in some sources as George Wilbur. The role was a small but visible part of the film's memorable opening act.
