Harold started his career with the Second City comedy troupe in Chicago and expanded his role as a writer and actor in the SCTV comedy show. He later left the show to pursue a career in films. National Lampoon’s Animal House was his first film script and the movie went on to break box office records for comedy at the time. His first shot as a film director came in 1980 with the hit Caddyshack, and 1993's Groundhog Day (which Ramis wrote and directed) is considered by some to be his masterpiece. While not the most immediately recognizable of the Ghostbusters, Ramis' work has left an indelible mark on comedy films and an influence that extends to writers, directors, and actors to this day.
