Live-action television
Darling quickly found regular work after her move to Los Angeles. Her most recognized on-screen role was as Peggy Callahan, Oscar Goldman's warm and capable secretary, appearing in four episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man (1975-76) and then seven episodes of its spin-off The Bionic Woman (1976-78).2 Concurrently she played Donna in the long-running family drama Eight Is Enough, accumulating 19 episodes across its run from 1977 to 1980.2 Later live-action credits include the sitcoms Mad About You and Dharma and Greg and the drama Six Feet Under.2
Voice acting
Darling's voice acting career began in 1981 with the Saturday morning cartoons Trollkins and The Smurfs, where she played Princess Savina.2 From there she became one of animation's most in-demand supporting voices across the following two decades.
Her highest-profile recurring role in animation is Ayeka (also romanized as Aeka) Masaki Jurai in the English dub of the Tenchi Muyo! franchise. She voiced the character across nearly every English adaptation of the series produced by Geneon/Pioneer, cementing the role as her signature performance for a generation of anime viewers.2
Her feature-film voice work includes additional voices in major Disney and Pixar productions: A Bug's Life (1998), Tarzan (1999), The Emperor's New Groove (2000), Monsters, Inc. (2001), Treasure Planet (2002), and Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away (2002, English dub). Other feature credits include The Iron Giant (1999).2
In television animation she contributed voices to Darkwing Duck, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rugrats, TaleSpin, and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, among others.2 She voiced Nora in the 2003 English dub of Astro Boy and Ms. Lee in Blood+.2 Her video game credits include roles in Baldur's Gate and King's Quest VIII: Mask of Eternity.2
Ghostbusters
The Real Ghostbusters
Darling guest starred in the The Real Ghostbusters episode "Egon on the Rampage" (production number 76032, first broadcast December 8, 1987). The episode, written by Marc Scott Zicree, centers on a news crew that disrupts an experiment at Ghostbusters headquarters, resulting in Egon's soul being exchanged with a demon's.3 Darling voiced three characters in the episode: Dr. Ruth, Shreck, and Kids (background child voices).3
Extreme Ghostbusters
Darling returned to the franchise a decade later with a guest role in the Extreme Ghostbusters episode "Grundelesque" (1997).2
