Early life and education
Gallegos was born to Teresa Marie Hicks, originally from Kingsville, Ontario, Canada, and Juan Domingo Gallegos, originally from Monte Grande, Argentina. Both parents worked as horse racing trainers in Lexington. Following his parents' divorce, his mother raised him and three siblings independently. When he was twelve, the family relocated to Doyline, Louisiana, a small village near Shreveport.2
He began performing as early as second grade but shifted his focus to basketball through high school. After graduation he was recruited to play college basketball at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana. A knee injury during his college years ended his athletic career and led him to drama classes, where he discovered a renewed passion for acting. Director Tabitha Huffman mentored him and connected him with a talent agency. Because the local film industry infrastructure around central Louisiana was limited, Gallegos drove approximately 90 minutes each week to Lafayette to take on-camera classes with coach Marcus Lyle Brown.2
Career
After college, Gallegos worked for roughly three years as a branch manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He drew on that experience to write and produce a television pilot, which he later packaged for festival submission. In the summer of 2017 he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, and founded Gallegos Films, developing additional skills in directing, editing, color correction, and audio production.2
His independent film work earned a Best Ensemble Cast award at the FirstGlance Film Festival, and the short film Spaghetti Junction screened at the Austin Film Festival. He went on to accumulate roughly twenty short film credits alongside longer-format work.1
Feature film credits include Greyhound (2020, Apple TV+), the Tom Hanks World War II naval thriller on which Gallegos spent approximately two months on set,2 the comedy-horror You Might Be the Killer (2018), and Avengers of Justice: Farce Wars.1
His television credits span network, cable, and streaming. He appeared in The Passage (FOX, 2019), the post-apocalyptic drama featuring Henry Ian Cusick, and in Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda (Investigation Discovery, 2019). He played Webb in The Walking Dead: World Beyond (AMC, 2020-2021)5 and has also appeared in The Resident (FOX), First Kill (Netflix), Panhandle (Roku) as Yasiel, Ultra Violet (Disney) as Estrella, and The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat.1
His two most prominent recurring roles are Nestor in Bosch: Legacy on Amazon Prime, the spin-off continuation of Bosch,3 and Robert Udashen in Hulu's limited series Candy (2022), which dramatizes the 1980 murder case of Candy Montgomery in suburban Texas.4
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024), Gallegos plays the Vape Shop Clerk at Firemaster Smoke N Vape. The scene serves as the audience's first glimpse of Garraka's power. The clerk has his back to the entrance and is stocking a shelf when Garraka enters and asks whether he is the Fire Master, invoking the ancient order that imprisoned the entity millennia earlier. The clerk, unaware of who or what Garraka is, sarcastically confirms that he is and tells the entity to read the sign on the wall. An icicle shoots out from the shelf and shatters the clerk's body. The character wears a New York Rangers throwback legacy jersey during the scene. Adam Murray originally auditioned for the role in November 2023.6 The Firemaster Smoke N Vape encounter is later referenced in Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, in which Garraka repeats the question: "Are you the firemaster?"
Personal life
Outside of his professional career, Gallegos holds a certified sailing captain license and describes himself as an avid gamer. He also volunteers at a creative nonprofit.7
