Judy Ovitz

Judy Ovitz is an actress and arts patron who has been married to Hollywood talent agent Michael Ovitz since 1969. Michael Ovitz was one of the most powerful agents in the industry during the 1980s and 1990s and represented several key figures in the Ghostbusters franchise, including Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and director Ivan Reitman. Judy Ovitz is also a noted supporter of the Ojai Playwrights Conference, which has honored her for her contributions to theater development.

In Ghostbusters II (1989), Judy Ovitz appeared as the Slimed Restaurant Patron, one of the film's most memorable minor characters. The scene, set in Armand's Restaurant on New Year's Eve 1989 (Chapter 19: "Scaring the Straights"), shows a woman dining with her date when Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, and Winston Zeddemore burst into the dining room in their long underwear covered in ectoplasmic residue, seeking Peter Venkman and Dana Barrett. Ray inadvertently splashed some of the ectoplasmic residue on the woman as they passed, and the irate patron followed them out along with her date. The character and her date (the Slimed Patron's Date, played by Peter Mosen) later appear in the background of a subsequent street scene. In an early draft of the screenplay dated August 5, 1988, the patron was struck by a large roach carcass rather than slime. In the NOW Comics adaptation Real Ghostbusters Starring in Ghostbusters II Part 3, the Slimed Restaurant Patron is depicted as male rather than female. The Slimed Restaurant Patron and Slimed Patron's Date also appear in IDW Publishing's Ghostbusters Volume 2 Issue #5, making the character one of the film's minor figures to receive an extended lifespan in the comics continuity. She also appeared in Back to the Future Part II (1989), directed by Robert Zemeckis, and in Ivan Reitman's Junior (1994), continuing her appearances in productions connected to the same Hollywood circle her husband represented.
