Kevin D. Campbell is an American animation writer and story editor whose career spans the mid-1990s through the 2010s. He is best known for his extensive work on Disney animated television, including a long run as Supervising Story Editor on House of Mouse, and contributed to Extreme Ghostbusters as one of its five Story Editors in 1997.1

    Campbell built his career in television animation during the boom years of the mid-1990s, working across a wide range of properties for Disney, Universal, and others.

    His earliest documented credits include writing for Darkwing Duck and the Aladdin animated series. He broke into direct-to-video feature work with The Return of Jafar (1994), the Disney sequel to Aladdin.1

    From 1995 to 1996, Campbell served as both Story Editor and writer on The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa, the syndicated Disney animated series, editing 11 episodes and writing 18.1 During the same period he contributed to The Mask: The Animated Series and the animated Ace Ventura: Pet Detective series.1

    In 1996 and 1997, he story edited 13 episodes of the Jumanji animated series (based on the 1995 film) and wrote 2 additional episodes. He also wrote for the Hercules animated series around this time.1

    His largest single credit is House of Mouse (2001-2002), the Disney Channel anthology series centered on a nightclub run by Mickey Mouse. Campbell served as Supervising Story Editor on all 52 episodes of the series, also taking separate story editor credit on 12 episodes and writing 31.1 He co-wrote the associated direct-to-video special Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse (2001).1

    Additional Disney credits include Mickey Mouse Works (1999), Jackie Chan Adventures (story editor on 6 episodes, 2000-2001), Lilo and Stitch: The Series (2003-2004), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (writer on 25 episodes, 2006 and 2008-2012), and Jake and the Never Land Pirates (2011-2012), on which he co-wrote multiple episodes including "Peter Pan Returns."1

    Beyond the Disney pipeline, Campbell wrote 2 episodes of Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness (2013) and contributed to Packages from Planet X (2013).1

    Ghostbusters

    Campbell was one of five Story Editors on Extreme Ghostbusters, the 1997 sequel animated series that brought back Egon Spengler to train a new generation of Ghostbusters.1 He served as Story Editor on two episodes:

    • The Infernal Machine
    • The Sphinx
