Kevin Mangold is an American actor, stunt performer, creature performer, and editor with an unusually varied career. He trained in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at the University of Southern California Film School and accumulated credits in stage, television, and film. He has appeared in more than fifty television commercials and music videos and performed on the Broadway tour of Peter Pan. Television credits include Saved by the Bell, Silver Spoons, Everybody Hates Chris, American Horror Story, Zeke and Luther, Fresh Off the Boat, and The Rookie.
At the age of 35, Mangold set entertainment aside to pursue professional horse racing, becoming a licensed Thoroughbred jockey who competed against leading riders at Santa Anita Park. After nine years on the track, the 2003 film Seabiscuit drew him back to the entertainment industry, where he transitioned into stunt doubling, creature performance, and puppetry alongside his acting work. Other stunt and creature credits include Brightburn (2019), Captain Fantastic (2016), and Grimm.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024), Mangold served as the character performer inside the Slimer suit, bringing the franchise's most iconic ghost to life through full-body physical performance. He also served as a puppeteer on the Library Ghost sequences, specifically operating the Library Ghost's left arm. His combination of the precise physical control developed during nine years as a professional jockey and his accumulated background in creature performance made him a natural fit for the dual creature role in the film.
