Richard Norman Anderson (August 8, 1926, Long Branch, New Jersey -- August 31, 2017, Beverly Hills, California) was an American actor best known for playing Oscar Goldman, the head of the fictional Office of Scientific Intelligence, across more than 150 combined episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man (ABC, 1974-1978) and its spinoff The Bionic Woman (ABC, 1976-1978). Late in his career he contributed a guest voice role to Extreme Ghostbusters.
Early life
Anderson was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, and his family relocated to Los Angeles when he was ten years old. He graduated from University High School in West Los Angeles and served seventeen months in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge he enrolled at the Actors Laboratory in Los Angeles to study his craft.1
