It's Wicked! was a weekly anthology comic published by Marvel Comics Ltd (Marvel UK) in the United Kingdom. It ran for 17 issues from May 20, 1989 to September 9, 1989, making it one of two Slimer-focused offshoots Marvel UK produced alongside its long-running The Real Ghostbusters UK series. Unusually for Marvel UK, the content was original material rather than reprints of American comics. Slimer, rendered in the "Blimey, It's Slimer" house style used by Marvel UK, served as the star cover character throughout the run.
Publication History
Marvel Comics Ltd began publishing The Real Ghostbusters bi-weekly in March 1988, building a dedicated UK readership for Ghostbusters-related comics. By mid-1989, with the franchise at a commercial peak, the publisher launched two companion weeklies: It's Wicked! and a companion Slimer! series. Together the two Slimer-fronted offshoots ran 17 and 13 issues respectively, accounting for 30 issues of original Slimer content produced under the Marvel UK banner.
It's Wicked! was released every Saturday throughout the summer of 1989, running concurrently with The Real Ghostbusters UK issues #049 through #065 and with The Marvel Bumper Comic for at least the first ten issues. The series concluded on September 9, 1989 with issue #17.
The first three issues each included a free gift: issue #1 came with plastic fangs (available in blue or green), issue #2 included werewolf tattoos, and issue #3 included a Real Ghostbusters Jelly Novelty by Alma.
