Jim Beard

Jim Beard is a comic book writer based in Toledo, Ohio, who co-wrote two Ghostbusters titles for IDW Publishing alongside writer Keith Dallas.

A short story co-written with Keith Dallas. Beard's biography printed in the issue revealed that seeing the original Ghostbusters film cost him a night of sleep, owing to the Library ghost.

Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary: Extreme Ghostbusters

Published April 24, 2019 by IDW Publishing (with an IDW Convention Variant Cover released July 18, 2019), this issue was the fourth and final entry in a four-issue anniversary mini-series, each featuring a different Ghostbusters team with a different creative team. The Extreme Ghostbusters installment was written by Beard and Dallas, with art by Tim Lattie, colors by Luis Antonio Delgado, lettering by Neil Uyetake, and editing by Tom Waltz and Megan Brown.

The story centers on Egon Spengler and the Extreme Ghostbusters responding to an outbreak at the Central Park Zoo, where possessed animals demand their release. The cast includes Egon Spengler, Janine Melnitz, Kylie Griffin, Eduardo Rivera, Garrett Miller, and Roland Jackson.

Development timeline:

• November 22, 2018: Beard publicly hinted he had joined a licensed project.
• November 26, 2018: His story pitch was accepted.
• December 23, 2018: Beard declared the script finished; Dallas added he spent the final three days completing it.
• December 27, 2018: The script was approved.
• April 24, 2019: The issue went on sale.
