    Plot

The issue opens with a red, humanoid dinosaur-like alien named Spikorouleusdennummale, nicknamed Spike, escaping his home dimension and being discovered by the crew of a ship. Spike soon encounters the Ghostbusters, who learn that Nurtog, a tyrannical Tyrannosaurus rex ghost, has conquered Spike's homeworld and rules it through fear and force.

The Ghostbusters attempt to use their proton streams to restrain Nurtog, and initially succeed in holding him. However, the ghost proves powerful enough to resist the pull of their trap, breaking free and retreating back to Spike's dimension. The team then realizes a critical problem: they had only captured a mental projection of Nurtog rather than the real entity. To defeat the true Nurtog, the Ghostbusters must travel to Spike's homeworld and confront him there directly.

    Spike

Spike (full name Spikorouleusdennummale) is a red, bipedal dinosaur-like being from an alien dimension. He serves as the issue's inciting figure, fleeing the tyranny of Nurtog and seeking help from the Ghostbusters after arriving on Earth. His full name proves a mouthful for the team, leading Peter Venkman to coin the shorter nickname.

    Nurtog

Nurtog is a ghost resembling a Tyrannosaurus rex who has taken over Spike's home dimension and rules it as a tyrant. He is powerful enough to resist capture by proton streams and escape a ghost trap's pull, making him a more formidable opponent than a typical containment job. The Ghostbusters discover that their initial encounter was only with a mental image of Nurtog, raising the stakes for a return trip to his domain.

    Notes

    • This issue was published the same month as The Real Ghostbusters Starring in Ghostbusters II Part 2 and Slimer! Issue #7.
