Plot

The Ghostbusters accompany Spike back to the prehistoric world to confront Nurtog. It is revealed that this lost world lies near the North Pole, leading Winston to theorize it accounts for historical reports of sea serpents and the Loch Ness Monster. When they arrive, Spike is devastated to find his home destroyed and his people gone. Spike elects to hold off Nurtog's troops while the Ghostbusters push through to battle Nurtog directly.

The confrontation reveals that Nurtog has actually been in a dormant state for countless eons, with only his mental projection active in the world. Peter forces Nurtog fully awake, but the villain's physical body has been weakened beyond recovery by millennia of disuse. A cave-in then apparently buries Nurtog within his own fortress. With the threat neutralized, Spike chooses to remain behind and search for survivors of Nurtog's reign; the Ghostbusters offer to help him rebuild his civilization. The final pages make clear, however, that Nurtog survived inside his fortress, setting up a promised return in a future issue.
