Proton Pack

This is a Pack Shell I received from Slimer7 in an unfinished form. The basic construction was already done, I'm just in the mist of painting it using automotive primer. The type of primer I am using is a special repair gap filling type that will fill in the imperfections. I have full intention of painting with 2-3 coats of chrome paint before finalizing with special purpose BBQ grill paint, the same paint used on my PKE meters and my Ecto Destabilizer Pistols. I plan on making one of the two shells a TVG pack in part with only a PDS. 1/20/10: I finally got some more primer and got some paint to start the base coat of silver. I started by sanding down the primer to smooth out the imperfections and low spots. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the Dupli-Color primer I was using before without having to pay $7.00 a can at NAPA Auto Parts. I replaced it with Rust-Oleum Fill Primer which I found at Wal-Mart. Not the same color, but it actually worked out in me being able to identify the low spots in the paint. 1/22/10: I started drilling pilot holes to attach parts and do a test fit of everything. I wasn't thrilled with the way the resin casted parts were holding the tubing so I drilled holes into the resin parts itself to get a better fit. The large dale resister on the Ion Arm was drilled in from behind and fitted to take a screw from the inside of the Ion Arm. Same thing was done with the crank knob on the Vac Pump. I did this to make the parts removable at the same time prevent it later from falling off due to glue getting weak. I've had enough pack parts fall off because the glue gave out. Not this time, damnit! 1/24/10: I finally did the big one - I finished the paint job! Using Krylon BBQ & Stove paint, i went over the pack parts in 3 coats.After the paint dried, i attached the cosmetics and the tubing. I got the labels finished as well. Using Scotch Self-Laminating Envelopes and full sheet Office Max labels with Volguus's label printouts, I sealed the tabels with lamination, cut, peeled, and stuck them where they belong. After securing more parts to the pack, It's safe to say this pack is around 75-80% finished! All is left is to get a booster frame, install the lenses, and get the thrower started. 4/8/10: I started work on the thrower. I just need to drill holes and add the light and switches. I also got bored and weathered the pack.
