By day, I am a Doctor of Musical Arts — which involves more psychology and parapsychology than you might expect. I teach college-level music theory and composition to undergraduate and graduate-level music majors, get called "professor" a lot, and wear endless cycles of shirt/tie combos.
By night, I ditch the shirt/tie for far more comfortable digs, compose original music, publish some of it, attend/conduct performances of it when I can (skype/livestream/email when I can't), and marvel at the irony that my music not only makes more money than I personally do, but also travels the world far more extensively.
Writing music is my first love and was the hobby that eventually became a career.
My hobby acquiring and/or recreating costumes, models, and props is the hobby that became the need for a paycheck-providing career.
