The Lifegard II is a personal alarm worn on the pistol belts of the Ghostbusters during the second movie as well as in the 2009 video game. In reality, the device is used primarily by firefighters and works by emitting a very loud high-pitched sound when the wearer is motionless too long, allowing others to locate a fallen comrade. The PASS device emits a high-pitched audible alert of at least 95 decibels.
The device has its own belt clip, but in the video game it sits in a leather holster and features an additional circuit board and various wires. In Ghostbusters 2, the Lifegard II replaced the MT-500 walkie talkie, but in the video game, both are present.
