Matt Walsh

Matthew Paul Walsh (born October 13, 1964, Chicago, Illinois) is an American comedian, actor, and co-founder of the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy troupe. The fourth of seven children, he attended Hinsdale South High School and went on to study psychology at Northern Illinois University. After college he immersed himself in Chicago's improv scene, training at the Annoyance Theater and ImprovOlympic under the influence of renowned improv teacher Del Close. He became one of the four founding members of the Upright Citizens Brigade alongside Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, and Ian Roberts, and the troupe's sketch comedy series ran for three seasons on Comedy Central.

Walsh served as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and has appeared in a broad range of films including Road Trip (2000), Bad Santa (2003), Role Models (2008), and The Hangover (2009). His most sustained and acclaimed television work came as Mike McLintock, the well-meaning but perpetually hapless White House press secretary, in the HBO political satire Veep (2012-2019), a performance that earned him Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in both 2016 and 2017.

In Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016), Walsh played Agent Rorke, a federal agent who alongside Agent Hawkins (Michael Kenneth Williams) serves as the government's unofficial monitor of the Ghostbusters' activities and the Mayor's reluctant enforcer.
