Have always loved building in wood, metal, plastic, leather and anything else I can get ahold of. I've built 3 reflecting telescopes up to 8" diameter, rebuilt my vintage Ludwig drum set. I've always enjoyed the Ghostbusters films (they're in my DVD collection), but never thought about building the props until my nephew approached me about building one for him. Had so much fun with it, I may have to build one for myself ! "I have the tools. . .I have the talent. . ."

Started a forum topic: My Firehouse Bell and WIRELESS Button
Well, I finally got it done. It’s a 12" Faraday Enclosed Type, original movement, solid brass gong, patented 1907. It took a few weeks of part time tinkering to get it cleaned up and working. I made the new coil cover using 1/8" R/C aircraft grade birch plywood. This cover replaces the OEM cover a…

After reading a couple of threads on Janine’s alarm button (nice button builds, BTW), I decided to try and find the firehouse bell itself. After looking at countless photos of vintage and antique alarm bells, I was stumped. I found gongs which looked near-perfect, but no bell with the large square…

After receiving a recent congratulatory comment on this prop from 2008, I thought I’d re-post a pic and announce that there will be a short set of plans in the “PLANS” page if anyone is interested. Started a forum topic: My Zippo - Doyle Brunson Style !
It’s a plain Zippo Matte Black #218 with a modified 1-1/4" wide No-Ghost enameled pin bonded to it. I snipped off the pin back, filed it flat and reduced the thickness by about .025 so it wouldn’t stick out too far. Then, masked off the lighter, cut a circle in the mask and grit blasted the paint …

Well, here it is. After a little searching, I finally found a snap hook which looks pretty close to the one in the Reference pics (second row, stacked-up hand shake - look left at the snap body shape). A little pic scaling and some hardware later, I came up with this. It may not be “perfect”, but…

Well, here’s the story - I’ve re-created the copper trace pattern from the back of the Sanyo board, and etched a test sample (see pic). The problem is, I can’t seem to find the correct circuit board material anywhere ! So, anyone out there have a stash of the dark brown phenolic copper clad pcb m…

Started a forum topic: My goggles, machined & backlit.
Well, here they are. Made from Israeli frames with both switches and batt. compartment. Custom aluminum front plate, machined lens components, side knobs and I/R beacon trim ring. Lenses are gloss black anodized, the other parts are painted. Also, 1/4" acrylic back plate, self-designed/etched LED…

I know they’re not “real” props, but I liked the idea and have seen some PVC versions on the site. I took it a step further and made these from aluminum, with 2 LED’s in the front label (steady green and flashing red) activated from a flush pushbutton on the bottom of the unit. The safety cross-pin…
