Built from a stupid looking LCD based horse racing game from American Science and Surplus, I gutted the body and added antennae on the sides of the meter. Using the same chaser lights from my pack I put the light inside the body, I added 2 lights at the ends of tem for more of a RGB feel, but I feel like I need to modify it more to make it not too stupid. I'd like to paint the body of the meter with flat black and paint the buttons white. The antennae need some revamping, but hey, it's better than nothing. 6/1/09: I restarted work on the PKE meter again beginning with changing the antennae assembly with older aluminum "Bunny Ears" from the late 70's. After that was completed, I decided to change the LEDs used for the antennae from the dull red to bright white. I also FINALLY added the screen hood to the meter. Using an old clear video tape case and a soldering iron I made 2 subtle curves in the plastic and glued in place. Next thing I'm going to do, if you couldn't tell from the masking tape on the screen, is I'm now set to paint. instead of regular flat black paint I was going to use black Barbecue Grill paint (same used on my ED Pistol) and then using brushable red model paint on the arms of the meter. 6/4/09: I got the meter finished. I decided to keep the buttons red to match the handle and the arms. instead of painting the arms and the handle, I used leftover red electrical tape from my packs N-Filter. All in all, much better than on old PKE meter.
