Well, to explain the idea: Dan Aykroyd came to the idea for Ghostbusters by reading an article on parapsychology, the science of paranormal phenomena. His approach was to redesign the classical spook-story by changing the Genere from Fantasy/Horror to Science-Fiction based on parapsychology.

I think it would be great if Ghostbusters 3 explained the relationship between the movies and the series.
That could be realized easily. For example, as Venkman was already the moderator of a TV-Show in Ghostbusters 2, it could be stated that he had been the Producer of the GB-Universe’s equivalent…
