I’ve got some white elbow pads that I was trying to dye grey but when I tested the dye on some white cloth it turned the cloth a brown color. Anyone have any tips/suggestions?

I have recently installed a replica props sound module in my pack. When I first put it in it worked fine, but after sitting for a while it wont do anything. I tried replacing the battery, still nothing. Could it be my speaker has blown? Has anyone had a problem like this?
