Build-log entry from Kevin Willingham’s Proton Pack (Proton Packs)

My 84 pack mods as of July 6th

  • First of course was labels from Mack’s factory, such an easy upgrade.

  • Hasbrackets and Fox brand LC1

  • Next I had an old resin Clippard. After painting and another label, I cracked off the big nub but left the screw posts. Then I drilled out the resin Clippard through the back and front so the posts locked it in place.

  • Used Moby diffuser stickers for the lenses.

  • New clamp for the [ribbon cable](/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/ribbon-cable/) and a couple zip ties.

  • I grabbed a foster coupler so I didn’t need to break or cut off that rod on the cyclotron cover. Removed the innards of the coupler and drilled it out a bit to leave the recessed lip. Then I slightly widened the post and dropped the coupler on and screwed the elbow in the hold it in place.

  • For the rest of the straights, elbows, and valves I widened the holes that were already there or broke off the tiny posts and made holes there.

  • I had two older resin dale resistors. I drilled out the back to fit over the posts on the pack, and then drilled out the top and bottom where the tube would go. Fit them on the pack and then of course attached all the tubes.

  • Tubes in the injectors are just tension fit in the existing holes, split loom over top.

Still planned:

  • I need a little more blue [tubing](/wiki/uncategorized/tubing/) for the top, it keeps crimping.

  • I have a GB2 Ion Arm Cap coming.

  • Probably eventually replace the bellows.

  • Need foam on the LC1

  • Will replace screws for something more accurate at a later date.
