During the events of
Ghostbusters Day at the
Ghost Corps offices in Culver City, California, attending fans noticed a recent addition to the Hook & Ladder №8-styled entrance of the production offices; a plaque paying tribute to late director
Ivan Reitman, listing the area in front of the offices as "Ivan Reitman Way".
The plaque serves as an understated celebration of Reitman's role in the development of the Ghostbusters property, not just as the director of the first two films, but as the person cited as grounding the science-fiction concept in the modern-day setting of 1980s America.
Announcing the plaque's installation during the
Ecto-Fest event,
Ernie Hudson made the following remarks:
“Ivan Reitman lives on in his movies and the way he made us laugh. And now, he will always be a part of this studio we call home.”
