Rolatape 200

The Rolatape 200 is a measuring wheel, a walking measure mounted on a long handle that tallies distance as its wheel rolls along the ground. It appears briefly in the original Ghostbusters film, carried by Egon Spengler when he, Peter Venkman, and Ray Stantz tour the disused firehouse they are considering as a headquarters.

In the film

During the scene where the three look over the old fire station that becomes their base at Hook and Ladder #8, Egon walks the floor with the Rolatape, taking measurements of the building. The implication is that he was working out the square footage and condition of the property while Venkman and Stantz argued over whether the place was worth it.

The Rolatape is one of several small, real-world props that dress Egon as the team's resourceful, instrument-minded member, alongside the meters and gadgets he carries elsewhere in the film. It has no on-screen function beyond the firehouse walkthrough.
