Cecily Legler Strong (born February 8, 1984, in Springfield, Illinois, raised in Oak Park, Illinois) is an American actress and comedian. She earned a BFA in theater from the California Institute of the Arts and subsequently trained with The Groundlings, Second City, and Improv Olympic. She joined the cast of Saturday Night Live as a featured player in September 2012 and became a repertory player the following season, co-anchoring the recurring Weekend Update segment with Seth Meyers. She remained with the show until 2022, making her the longest-tenured female cast member in its history. She received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her SNL work in 2020 and 2021.
In Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016), Strong played Jennifer Lynch, the chief of staff to Mayor Bradley. Lynch is the official government liaison who initially treats the Ghostbusters as a liability, publicly attributing their actions to fraud while privately depending on their expertise.
Outside of SNL, her most prominent work is the Apple TV+ musical comedy series Schmigadoon! (2021 to 2023), which she also co-produced. She has also appeared in The Meddler (2015) and hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2015. Her memoir, This Will All Be Over Soon, was published in 2021.
