The very first release in Mattel's Ghostbusters line. Released in summer of 2009, Egon was first made available at San Diego Comic Con and then later the overstock from the convention was sold on mattycollector.com a few weeks later.
Featuring a fairly decent sculpt of Harold Ramis, this figure sported a slimed version of his GB 1 uniform and was packaged with Slimer.

This Egon also featured rubber like glasses that unfortunately on some figures wouldn't sit right causing them to be crooked. This was later corrected with the PKE version of Egon. All in all a unique figure for any Ghosthead's collection.
Since this was the first release in the Ghostbusters line, Dr. Spengler sold out very fast and is no longer available.
Matty's second offering of Dr. Spengler gave collectors the Egon Spengler figure they had been waiting for.
Released Fall of 2010, This release featured the same body sculpt as the slimed SDCC release, but this time sported a clean uniform, plastic molded glasses (a definite upgrade from the first release), and the same fairly accurate Harold Ramis likeness from the SDCC release.

The main draw for this release was the inclusion of the PKE meter which had been absent on the SDCC release.
Also included was a stack of books that replicate the "symmetrical book stacking" scene from the beginning of the first film. However, the stack isn't the same scale as the figure and looks like a stack of pizza boxes when placed next to him despite their decent detailing.
Overall, the definitive Egon Spengler figure. This figure sold out quickly and is no longer available from Matty Collector.
This version of Egon was packaged as part of the Toys R Us "Ghostbusters 2" 4 pack.

This version sported the same body and head sculpt as the "PKE" release but featured the dark gray uniform with GB 2 arm logo and Lifegard in place of a radio. Also the glasses color was changed to silver for this release.

As discussed with the GB 2 Venkman entry, this figure also has the darker skin color making him look extremely tan when placed next to the Matty Collector releases.
