"Look! Its a new article about Ghostbusters 3!"
Its hard to believe it, but Ghostbusters Fans last posted a new article about Ghostbusters 3 several years ago, and before that several more years. You'd think the largest site for Ghostbusters would be posting every single morsel of Ghostbusters 3 news and information we could possibly get, but we don't.
There is a reason why we haven't of course. Nearly everything written about Ghostbusters 3 has turned out to be false. There have been completely made up rumors, hopeful comments from Dan Aykroyd, outlandish stories about Bill Murray, and recycling of rumors from nearly 20 years ago. How many more times are we going to hear that Will Smith and Chris Farley will be in Ghostbusters 3, or that Bill Murray will be playing a ghost?
That being said, a Ghostbusters sequel or remake will be inevitable, in fact it is likely to happen multiple times more as Hollywood rightfully reboots old franchises (personally I'm a fan of some of the new reboots). At some point the rumors will stop being false or wishful thinking. I believe with the passing of Harold Ramis, a new urgency to make the film has been ignited.
Ivan Reitman recently gave an interview to
Deadline in regards to Ghostbusters 3 and the future, and indeed the rumor filled past.
“There has been all kinds of stuff, unofficially written about Ghostbusters,” Reitman told me. “I’ve been reading things online for about four years, speculation on who’s writing, what they’re writing, who’s in it, who we will use, and who’s directing. We’d decided not to comment up till now, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, and it was never clear what Bill was going to do. A lot of things happened in the last few months, the most significant of which was the passing of Harold, who was a very good friend who was extraordinarily influential in my career. We did five movies together including both Ghostbusters.”
“I’m hoping we can get started by the fall, set in New York, but given the logistics and the stuff that happens, the beginning of 2015 seems more likely.”

We will continue to weed out the Ghostbusters 3 articles and separate the good from the bad. I believe we are going to start seeing a new emergence of legitimate Ghostbusters 3 news, and we will start covering it a bit more closely in the future. Just remember that until you see something official from Sony, to take all things you see about Ghostbusters 3 with a grain of salt.
