The
New York Daily News revealed this past Wednesday that the Ghostbusters' firehouse is slated to close its doors due to budget cuts. The firehouse,
Hook & Ladder #8, is located at located in the Tribeca section of Manhattan, NY. The station is one of two lower Manhattan companies to be shut down that responded to the World Trade Center site on September 11th, 2001. It is just one of 20 firehouses slated for closure all across the five boroughs. Administrative sources stress that the list of closures is tentative and has the possibility of changing in the future.
Discussion about the building's closure has sprung up across the web, from the forums of
Ghostbusters Fans to petitions on
Facebook and everywhere in between. Perhaps we as Ghostbusters Fans can help convince New York City to keep Hook and Ladder #8 and other important stations open for another 100 years of public service?
