Ecto Goggles

image seen on Ray Stantz's belt, the Ecto Goggles are designed to allow the wearer to see invisible ghosts and visually track PKE valences. The Ecto Goggles first appeared in the Sedgewick Hotel in the first Ghostbusters movie and were mainly worn by Ray. Egon and Peter did however wear them briefly in the montage. In The Real Ghostbusters, the goggles tend to randomly and sparingly show up. Sometimes all four guys are wearing them. Here they are officially dubbed "Spectro-Visors", though this is the only iteration of the property to use this term to describe them. Kenner made a pair of kid-sized Ecto Goggles in the Real Ghostbusters toyline that came with a small squeezable gun that popped out foam shots. Also the Fright Features Ray figure is wearing Ecto Goggles and the Slimed Heroes Ray figure has removable Ecto Goggles as an accessory. In Ghostbusters 2, the Ecto Goggles are worn a few times by Ray. They show up in the montage to catch the Jogger Ghost and in a deleted scene, Ray uses them to analyze the slime covered museum. Winston is the only Ghostbuster not to wear the Ecto Goggles in the movies. In the sequel the goggles had slightly different details including different lenses and the coloring to it was dull. In Ghostbusters: The Video Game the goggles are officially dubbed the Paragoggles. The Ecto Goggles are made from modified AN/PVS-5a Night Vision Goggles. A few fans have made copies of the body and lens available within the community. Another cheap alternative are Norm Gagnon's Ecto Goggles plans using welding goggles and plumbing fittings you can find at a hardware store.
