Variety (apparently the best source for new Ghostbusters Game News) has
posted a new article that states that Ghostbusters: The Video game is indeed being picked up by 80's video game giant
Atari. Here is a quick snipped from the article that mentions Ghostbusters:
"Execs at Atari wouldn't comment on "Ghostbusters," but sources close to the publisher confirmed it is also picking up that game, with plans to publish it early next summer in conjunction with the film's 25th anniversary. It's believed Atari has a similar licensing deal with Sony Pictures to produce further "Ghostbusters" games should the first one prove successful.
Atari is paying Activision Blizzard a flat fee to cover a portion of the development coin Vivendi Games previously spent on [Ghostbusters The Video Game]."
Perhaps still not completely confirmed, but more and more sources (including Dan Aykroyd) have told us that Atari would infact be the publisher of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Expect a release close to June 2009 to coincide with the 25th Aniversary of Ghostbusters!
