Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson star as a quartet of Manhattan-based "paranormal pest controllers." After Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Egon Spengler, and Dr. Ray Stantz are denied further employment at a university that thinks their research too "eccentric," the three band together to go into business as professional ghost-busters. Armed with electronic paraphernalia and new team member Winston Zeddemore (Hudson), the Ghostbusters are spectacularly successful, ridding The Big Apple of dozens of ghoulies, ghosties and long-legged beasties. Tight-lipped bureaucrat Walther Peck (William Atherton) regards the Ghostbusters as a bunch of charlatans, but is forced with the prospect of eating his words when New York is besieged by an army of unfriendly spirits, conjured up by a long-dead Babylonian demon and "channelled" through beautiful cellist Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and nerdish accountant Louis Tully (Rick Moranis). The climax of the film is a spectacle of epic proportions as the 'busters duke it out with a deadly - and delicious - demon... honestly, who would ever dream that the chubby, cheery Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man would turn out to be the most malevolent threat ever faced by New York City?
